What is a Non-Intrusive Evaluation?

It's an assessment done without removing or damaging any tile. It relies on visual inspection, documentation, photos, and interviews. If the assembly must stay intact, this service is what you need. Sounding, thermal imaging, measurements, and observation from the top of an assembly can often reveal possible and likely causation of failure.

When this option makes sense

For pre-litigation review where destructive testing is not yet authorized. It is sometimes used when a home owner is working with a contractor and suspicions have been raised as to the quality of the work. There are times when this inspection and accompanying report are all that is needed in making a determination, sometimes it is considered a preliminary evaluation. Every assembly is different, and some areas in regards to the assemblies functionality can remain hidden. While this service can not meet the same scrutiny of a forensic assessment, it can be extremely revealing.

What's Included

What Michael Reviews: existing photos, installer documentation, maintenance history, on-site visual inspection, findings are measured against ANSI Standards, TCNA Guidelines, and the NTCA Reference Manual. All of the time spent within NTCA committees helps to reveal what has actually happened at a suspected failure.

What You Receive

You will receive a report that outlines any findings. Reports detail what Standards and Guidelines were omitted from an assembly, what the standards and guidelines would have done for the assembly, whether an assembly can be repaired, or must be replaced, and a recommendation for next steps.

Non-Intrusive vs. Forensic Evaluation

The bottom line is that a forensic evaluation is far more revealing. However, sometimes whether it's the timing, practicality, or any other unforeseen reason, non-intrusive makes the most sense.
